The added bonus is I can also fit my running sunglasses in the case as well and the case is sturdy enough that they won't be crushed. The charging unit and hear rate monitor go in a zippered pocket or checked bag as they all will not fit with the sunglasses in there.
I would (and did) pay $20 for the case but at $30 probably would not. It's sturdy, ventilated, holds the device securely and is exactly what I wanted it for.
Without the glasses, they all fit though just a bit cramped. All the previous reviews regarding the case are very accurate. It would all be too cramped.
I purchased the Garmin case to use while travelling so that I could pack my 305 in my carry on and not a checked bag. It may help that my 305 has a velcro wrist band and not the rubber band that comes with the unit.
I don't think the case would work well as an everyday storage case for the gps, heart rate monitor and charging device.
I can throw a number of other random things in there but this is really not what I was looking for in a case for my 705. It's too short to hold the HRM strap without sharply bending the sensor part (probably not a good idea). I have a Garmin Edge 705 and this is the only case that Garmin lists for it. You could easily fit four Edge 705's in it, maybe more. I don't see how this case is a good idea.
I wish there was a better way to secure the actual GPS in this. I did have my Edge 705 get turned on somehow while in the case and I typically careful about closing it and making sure it's not hitting anything else. I'm thinking this cost about $2 to manufacture so the $25 + that most pay is hard to swallow. This is about what I expected based on the reviews. It's nothing special but it does what I need it to do. What would be great would be a case that has a molded foam that the GPS could sit in and that had specific compartments for the other items.
Ideal for travel or storage at home or in your vehicle. Case puts all the gadgets in one place. Maybe a little bulky in a small carry-on.
Plus there is room for my ipod, armband, and miscellaneous other items. The case is a semi rigid "clamshell that offers much more protection than a simple nylon carrying case. There are ventilation holes in the top and both sides, so you don't have to worry about a "gym locker" smell building up.
I have tried other kinds of cases, and like the protection and design of this case the best. I put my Forerunner in one half, and the heart rate monitor in the other half, and still have room in each half for other items.
There is a single zipper that easily closes the case.Unlike other reviews, I don't find the space to be cramped. The case does not have a carry handle or strap except for a small finger strap at one end, but odds are you will be carrying this in a gym bag or some other bag, so a finger strap is all that you really need.I like that this case is reasonably compact, yet roomy enough to hold other items that I use together with my Forerunner.
This case is well designed for carrying my Garmin Forerunner 305 and heart rate monitor. It opens in half, and each half has a mesh to hold items in place.
Because of the mesh holding the Forerunner in place, there is absolutely no worry about scratching the face of the Forerunner.Although the heart rate monitor does have to be folded a bit, this does it no harm.
